The Rotunda Museum (Scarborough)
The Rotunda is one of the oldest purpose built museums in Britain still fulfilling its original role. Overlooking Scarborough's South Bay this small, handsome building is an important part of Britain 's scientific heritage. In May 2006, the Heritage Lottery Fund awarded just under 2 million pounds towards the redevelopment of the Rotunda Museum as a centre of geology for the region.
H Smith (Electrical) Ltd - Scope of works at The Rotunda Museum
H Smith (Electrical) Ltd were involved in the refurbishment and extension of the three storey central area (the original rotunda museum), a display area at the lower ground floor and the refurbishment of the two existing gallery wings.
We were also involved in the electrical system designed by Silcock Leedham which had to meet the requirements of Scarborough Borough Council and the standards set out in the 'museum, libraries and achieve design guidance.'
Due to the historical importance of the site and the fact it is a listed structure, great care was required due to the sensitive nature of this project.
